Overview

StrataGen has effectively implemented our software for a range of customers. The following are examples of three paratransit operators serving large, medium and small communities; each have recognized improvements in their operation through implementation of StrataGen software. There are many more cases of operators recognizing improvements in scheduling, client management, reporting and system administration. For more details contact sales@stratagen.com.

New York City Transit, NY: 20,000+ trips per day

Peak vehicles: 1,800+
Peak Trips: 20,000+
Number of work stations: 600+
Server: Microsoft Windows XP
Client: Microsoft Windows XP

Approach used by StrataGen in meeting’s client requirements:
Subsequent to product demonstrations, trial schedule comparisons and extensive due diligence review by the customer detailed functional specifications were developed to define scope of work. Initial project was delivered in two phases with installation of ADEPT™ v4.0 with extensive customizations followed six months later with a second phase of customizations. The project delivered on time because of extensive collaboration between the client and StrataGen.

StrataGen Systems developed software functionality and provided on-site project management; train the trainer, technical support, and trouble shooting. Project staff lived in client’s city during install and during and after cut over to ADEPT™ to ensure a successful project.

The deliverables associated with the client’s project:
ADEPT™ v4.0 (extensive customization)

Results:

  • Productivity (trips/revenue-hour) increased by 30%
  • Service denials reduced from 4.8% to 0%
  • On-time performance improved from 90% to 95%
  • Call handling time reduced 30%
  • Total trips/day increased from 8,000 to 14,000

StrataGen software has been in use by the customer since the 1st Quarter of 2002.

Medium Agency: 400+ trips per day

Peak vehicles: 20
Peak Trips: 450
Number of work stations: 3 plus public kiosks & dedicated telephones
Server & Client: Microsoft Windows 2000

Approach used by StrataGen in meeting’s client requirements:
The client was participating in a program to meet air pollution abatement goals in order to help mitigate the effects of development on the region, and thus the client needed to manage its multi-provider transportation system more efficiently. StrataGen Systems partnered with the procuring agency to bring coordination to several different transportation services. After making product demonstrations, performing trial schedule comparisons and receiving extensive due-diligence review by the client, StrataGen developed detailed functional specifications to define the scope of work. Extensive customization of ADEPT™ v5.0 has resulted in a successful integration of transportation services utilizing several communication and technology media. StrataGen continues to work with the client to maximize system efficiency utilizing ADEPT™.

The scope and StrataGen’s specific involvement in project:
StrataGen Systems developed software functionality and provided on-site project management, training, technical support, and troubleshooting. StrataGen partnered with leaders in the fields of Mobile Data, AVL, IVR, World Wide Web applications, and information kiosks to provide riders with an extensive array of options to gain access to public transportation. ADEPT™ has enabled passengers to board demand-response, fixed-route, flex-route and casino-shuttle services with ease and confidence.

The deliverables associated with the client’s project:
ADEPT™ v5.0 (extensive customization)
ADEPT™ MDT/AVL Module
ADEPT™ IVR Interface Module
ADEPT™ Fixed Route and Feeder Service Module

Results:
StrataGen Systems' success at integrating multiple transportation providers has resulted in a more streamlined system that more riders utilize every day. Casinos enjoy a balanced distribution of rider drop-offs due to ADEPT™’s use of a highly customized scheduling algorithm. Flex-route services have eased the burden on demand services. Integration of information by ADEPT™ to more media allows the general public and tourists easier access to transportation, and the increased efficiency of the system is also helping address air pollution concerns.

StrataGen software has been in use by the customer since the 4th Quarter of 2002.

Valley Transit, Walla Walla, WA: 100+ trips per day

Peak vehicles: 4
Peak Trips: 100
Number of work stations: 3
Server & Client: Microsoft Windows 2000

Approach used by StrataGen in meeting’s client requirements:
Scheduling technology is playing an integral role in fulfilling the mission of one agency’s goal to provide high quality and efficient public transportation services that are responsive to the needs of the entire community. One immediate goals of the procuring agency was to make their Dial-A-Ride van operators and dispatchers more efficient, thus providing an increase in available capacity for daily one-way trips with no increase in vehicles or driver hours. StrataGen approached the project with no concern that a small system could not utilize advanced technology.

The scope and StrataGen’s specific involvement in project:
StrataGen Systems was able to bring the most advanced technology to a small site and make it result in cost savings. StrataGen partnered with the agency’s employees to make ADEPT™ work for them and the passengers by enabling the system to provide more trips with no more vehicles. StrataGen serving as prime contractor partnered with the agency, a leading MDT provider, and the World Wide Web to bring an integrated solution that exceeded expectations. A feeder service module that brought demand response riders into the fixed route system as well as mobile data and AVL modules were added to achieve cost savings for the transit system.

The deliverables associated with the client’s project:
ADEPT™ v5.0
ADEPT™ Feeder Service Module
ADEPT™ MDT/AVL Module
ADEPT™ Web Module

Results:
The software has increased the productivity of Valley Transit by sharing more rides and better use of the fleet. Through more efficient scheduling, Valley eliminated one vehicle saving 43,000 per year for depreciation, maintenance, fuel and driver wages -- a 15% reduction. The system was also able to shelve plans to add an additional part-time employee to assist in scheduling and dispatch. The use of the Feeder Service Module has eased the strain on the Demand Response service and made fixed route travel available to more passengers.

StrataGen software has been in use by the customer since 4th Quarter 2001.
